‘Pestilence’ Goodreads Synopsis –
They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows, and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.
‘Pestilence’ Novel Review –
This was probably the best post-apocalyptic novel I’ve read in such a long time. ‘Pestilence’ has an overall rating of 4.09/5 stars and once finishing this novel I rated it 5/5 stars.
I am so obsessed with Pestilence, the blonde horseman who never dies and is sent to destroy human kind. This story was like a breath of fresh air, the characters were brilliant, and the story was so seamless that I couldn’t find any faults.
The story was focused on Pestilence and his never-ending conquest to killing all humans but struggles to complete his mission because he falls in love with a human woman. The contrasts between right and wrong in this story were so vivid that I was brought to tears sometimes.
Sara, the main female character. used to be a firefighter before the Horsemen came to earth, so her personality is very empathetic. I loved how as much as she hated to admit it, she fell in love with Pestilence’s personality more so than his mission and his future.
Don’t think that this story is all lovey dovey, it’s really not. Pestilence is basically a plague that spreads through cities in which he travels through. So, besides the whole gruesome factor of this novel the relationship between both Sara and Pestilence is EVERYTHING.
If you’re interested in New Adult paranormal and romantic fantasy novels than I definitely recommend reading the ‘Four Horsemen’ series. Sexual scenes and coarse language aren’t as prevalent in ‘Pestilence’ than some other New Adult novels but I would still recommend it to more mature readers.
