‘Heart on Fire’ Novel Review –

It’s been so long since I’ve written a book review, I’m only just getting back into the swing of things so wish me luck!! I have decided to review and rate ‘Heart on Fire’ by Amanda Bouchet 4/5 stars.

Can I just say I am probably the biggest fan of this series! If you need a fantastic mythological read the Kingmaker Chronicles would be one that I recommend. It is a new adult fantasy novel with romantic elements.

By far Cat and Griffin have been my favourite couple out of all my NA reads so far. They’re chemistry is so aliened, and I never got the sense of a cringe worthy relationship between the two. I loved how Bouchet was able to carry their relationship throughout the three novels without it getting overwhelming.

My most favourite part of the whole series was the world in which Bouchet brought to life through the use of mythological characters. The addition of not only incorporating the Greek/Roman gods but mythical creatures was so awesome!

This novel was following the adventures of Cat and Griffin trying to find a magical potion that was said to release Cat’s supernatural abilities. While fighting against her evil mother, I appreciated how the author perceived Cat as an authoritative woman who would fight and protect anyone even when she was pregnant. (Little Bean is the cutest name in the world for her little foetus).

The only thing I didn’t enjoy about this novel was the anti-climactic ending as well as the overuse of dialogue. I understand why it would be so anti-climactic considering it was only going with be a series, but I wanted more. I NEEDED MORE!! I also felt like in some instances and scenes within the book, there could have been a bit more focus on battle scenes and not on character dialogue.

All in all, I was so impressed with this series it was everything I could have asked for. Cat and Griffin are the most perfect couple and I need there to be another series within the same world. I feel like these novels really cater for all kinds of readers, it just has a little something for everybody!
