'Everless' Goodreads synopsis -

'In the kingdom of Sempera, time is currency—extracted from blood, bound to iron, and consumed to add time to one’s own lifespan. The rich aristocracy, like the Gerlings, tax the poor to the hilt, extending their own lives by centuries. No one resents the Gerlings more than Jules Ember. A decade ago, she and her father were servants at Everless, the Gerlings’ palatial estate, until a fateful accident forced them to flee in the dead of night. When Jules discovers that her father is dying, she knows that she must return to Everless to earn more time for him before she loses him forever. But going back to Everless brings more danger—and temptation—than Jules could have ever imagined. Soon she’s caught in a tangle of violent secrets and finds her heart torn between two people she thought she’d never see again. Her decisions have the power to change her fate—and the fate of time itself.'

'Everless' Novel Review -

‘Everless’ was not what I expected it to be. I must say, it was a very interesting novel. Once finishing ‘Everless’ I’ve reviewed it as 4/5 stars. Firstly, Jules was such an interesting character to read from. I really enjoyed how her efforts to save her father never swayed and how she always had a strong attitude towards protecting the people most important to her.

Secondly, THE WORLD BUILDING! The most interesting thing was how the kingdom hierarchy worked. I found it intriguing how not everyone was made from time (apart from the royals) and this there for created such a corrupt environment.

Thirdly, can we talk about Liam! In the beginning I was Team Roan up until the point where he became selfless and weak. I enjoyed that the novel wasn’t entirely focused on a romantic triangle, I needed a bit of a break from love quarrels.

Another aspect I really enjoyed was the way in which the author explained the extraction of time and how the people of Everless could gain it back.

The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about this novel was the predictability. Jules was your typical girl who was struggling to support family, until one day finds out that she is an ancient being that can save everyone from Everless.

All in all, I intend on reading the rest of the series although it’s going to be a while until I read the second novel *silent sobs*.
